We are currently seeking a Relationship Manager to join our Relationship Management Team, focusing on the development, origination, and execution of new commercial lending transactions. This role involves working with both existing clients and "new-to-Society" prospects, delivering high-quality lending solutions aligned with our credit standards and return expectations.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing deals typically ranging from £1 million to £5 million and will carry a portion of the division’s new business volume target. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing client relationships—ensuring retention and maintaining exceptional credit stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and execute new lending opportunities from prospecting through to drawdown
  • Prepare and present high-quality Credit Committee proposals
  • Negotiate and structure deals, including Term Sheets and final loan documentation
  • Oversee transaction management alongside internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and manage portfolio performance, ensuring strong credit and income risk management
  • Maintain a 100% contact strategy to retain and grow client relationships
  • Deliver excellent customer care throughout the entire client lifecycle
  • Actively network and promote the Society’s brand in the commercial real estate and wider business community
  • Stay informed on legal, regulatory and market developments to support robust decision making

Skills & Experience

  • Strong credit risk assessment capabilities
  • Proven experience in commercial lending, including understanding of security and risk management
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft Office tools
  • Sound knowledge of legal and regulatory lending environments

Desirable:

  • Experience with Development Finance transactions
