At Principality Building Society, we’re here to help people prosper in their homes and communities. As Wales’s largest building society, we’re proud to be a mutual organisation putting members at the heart of everything we do. Now, we're looking for a talented Solicitor to join our Group Legal team and help us navigate a wide range of legal matters with precision, pragmatism, and purpose.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you’ll play a key role in providing high-quality, pragmatic legal advice to support the Society’s commercial decisions, mitigate legal and regulatory risks, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This is a varied, hands-on role offering exposure to some high profile, confidential matters, including contract negotiation, employment law, financial services regulation, and more.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting our People Services Team to navigate employment law issues, including employee relations and policy work.
  • Advising the Procurement team on contract terms, supporting negotiations and completing related documentation.
  • Acting as a legal subject matter expert (SME) on a variety of business-led projects for both the Savings and Lending arms of our business.
  • Supervising junior legal team members and providing second-opinion support to colleagues across Group Legal.
  • Monitoring and interpreting legal updates relevant to our operations and working with internal partners to ensure compliance.

What we’re looking for:

  • University degree in Law or equivalent (CPE)
  • Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Vocational Course (BVC)
  • England and Wales Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
  • Strong background in financial services, employment law, litigation law or general commercial law (in-house or private practice)
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including relevant FCA Handbook sections
  • Proven ability to deliver clear, commercially focused legal advice

Desirable Experience:

  • Litigation, employment law and commercial contracts experience
  • Prior experience advising within a regulated financial services environment

Key Skills:

  • Legal drafting and contract negotiation
  • Strong legal research and interpretation capabilities
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A desire to learn and take on new challenges

If you're a proactive legal professional with sound commercial acumen and a desire to work in a values-driven organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

Join us at Principality – where you can make a meaningful impact every day.
