About us:

Scottish Autism is dedicated to enabling autistic people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. We believe in the power of relationships to transform the lives of the people we support.

A key expectation of everyone who works for Scottish Autism is that they live and breathe our values; Collaboration, Change Makers, Compassion and Contribution. Our values come into play throughout everything we do at work – how we work together, and how we deliver services to the people we support and to the people we work alongside.

About the job

In this role you will:

  • Work alongside the Practice Development Team and Autism Services teams to embed supported decision-making in everyday practice, advising practitioners on how best to achieve this for autistic people who may have learning disabilities and/or high support needs.
  • To support efforts to facilitate access to community activities, autistic spaces, and democratic processes.
  • To facilitate a Leadership Development Programme that will allow the people we support to gain confidence, knowledge and skills to advocate for their rights, needs and aspirations in both internal and external forums.
  • To support the meaningful inclusion of the autistic people we support, and the wider autistic community, in our organisational communications and campaigning.
  • To facilitate an Autistic Advisory Panel that will contribute to strategic organisational decisions on a range of themes. This may include practice development; internal and external learning programmes and activities; policy campaigning priorities; and organisational communications.
  • To support organisation-wide efforts to provide accessible communication – including board papers; Executive reports and strategy communications; regular internal communications, policies and learning resources.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Coaching and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Ability to innovate and inspire colleagues and supported people towards a shared vision of a more inclusive organisation
  • A strong commitment to participatory approaches to support practice, research, and campaigning.
  • Ability to distil complex information into key messages and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to engage people with a diverse range of communication styles and preferences.

In addition to your application and CV please send a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role and reasons for applying to hr.recruitment@scottishautism.org.

Scottish Autism offers you:

A comprehensive benefits package which includes a range of Health & Wellbeing, Learning & Personal Development and Financial Benefits such as:

  • Workplace Pension (matched up to 9%)
