Be Here, Be You, Create Change

We are looking to recruit team players who have excellent communication skills and an ability to think creatively. Are you passionate about creating more opportunities for community participation?

We are expanding our Tayside Outreach Services to support 20 autistic adults between the ages of 20 and 40. We're looking for dedicated team players with strong communication skills and a creative mindset. If you're passionate about promoting community inclusion, we invite you to join our team as an Autism Practitioner.

At Scottish Autism we acknowledge the specialist support our staff provide to autistic people therefore those doing support work are known as Autism Practitioners. We provide outstanding training and are continuously improving to ensure all our Autism Practitioners are supported and have the skills to deliver a quality service.

The people we support enjoy a variety of activities including long outdoor walks, community sports, swimming, dining out, watching movies, listening to music and using technology. Our services are community based but also link with building-based support.

As an Autism Practitioner, experience of working within social care is desirable but not essential as we are seeking to appoint people who share our values and are willing to learn and develop into the role. We will support you to do this by offering an extensive autism specific training programme. Our organisational values are Collaboration; Compassion; Change Makers; Contribution and these are at the heart of what we do.

Successful candidates will preferably hold a full UK driving license.

Autism Practitioners will work as a team to:

  • Continuously develop and implement personalised support plans with supported people, their support network, and other stakeholders to ensure their life goals and aspirations are the main focus,
  • Build positive relationships with supported people,
  • Ensure people are an active part of their local community,
  • Provide support to individuals with personal care needs, including continence assistance and daily hygiene routines.
  • Assist in developing adaptive strategies to navigate and overcome challenges.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake shift work, including weekends and evenings, so flexibility towards working hours is key.

On a day-to-day basis, Autism Practitioners will enable supported people:

  • To take part in their chosen activities (as listed above),
  • To empower and enable impactful and meaningful decision.

Scottish Autism offers you:

Staff wellbeing is priority, and we strive to ensure all colleagues feel valued and supported at work.  We provide an excellent benefits package which includes a competitive salary and a personalised learning pathway for all.  We keep it simple with 3 pay points. You progress at your pace as you develop. We benchmark regularly to ensure the rates are competitive

  • Sector leading training from day one, including fully funded support to complete your necessary SVQ
  • Non-contributory life assurance scheme
  • Workplace Pension (Employer matched up to 9%)
  • Discount platform
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
