We're looking for a Production Operator to join our busy and fast-paced broadcast operation at MediaCityUK, Salford. About the Role

As a Production Operator, you'll support the delivery of high-quality live broadcasts by operating a range of broadcast equipment across audio, replay, graphics, studio and camera functions. Working closely with Production Directors, Producers and operational teams, you'll help ensure our live output runs smoothly, accurately and professionally.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll gain exposure to multiple production disciplines and play an important part in delivering content to customers around the world.

What You'll Be Doing

Audio Operations

  • Operate live broadcast sound desks in a live production environment.
  • Mix and monitor audio sources to maintain high broadcast standards.
  • Manage audio ingest and playback.
  • Operate ancillary audio equipment, including compressors, limiters and communications systems.
  • Set up microphones and support production teams and on-air talent through talkback systems.

Replay & Video Operations

  • Ingest and play out video content for live broadcasts.
  • Select sources via broadcast routing systems.
  • Operate server-based replay and video systems.

Graphics Playout

  • Control and trigger live on-screen graphics.
  • Manage automated data feeds and manual graphics updates.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and visual elements during live programming.

Studio & Camera Operations

  • Assist with studio set-up and de-rigging for daily live productions.
  • Configure cameras and operate remote camera control systems.
  • Set up microphones, lighting and associated studio equipment.
  • Support the smooth running of live studio environments.

Technical & Operational Support

  • Operate broadcast monitoring and communications systems.
  • Carry out equipment start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Work closely with Production Directors, Producers and colleagues across Operations, MCR and Data teams.
  • Contribute to a reliable, high-quality live broadcast service.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates who have a genuine passion for broadcasting and technology, alongside strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Broadcast, Media Production or a related discipline, or
  • At least 12 months' experience in a technical broadcast, production or live operations environment.

You'll also bring:

  • A good understanding of the live broadcast process and production workflows.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
  • The ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • A flexible approach to work and shift patterns.

Experience with broadcast audio, replay, graphics or studio systems would be advantageous, but we also welcome applications from enthusiastic candidates looking to develop their skills in a professional live production environment.

Working Pattern

This role operates on a rotating shift pattern of 160 hours over a four-week period, including:

  • Evenings (up to 9:30pm)
  • Weekends
  • Bank Holidays
