Personal Assistant (Support Worker)
Job Purpose
Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.
Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Job Details
We are looking for a female* Personal Assistant to join an established team to support a lady in her everyday life, 24 hours a day on a 2:1 basis. She lives in Craigmillar, Edinburgh.
Part time post available. 20-30 hours per week.
Current shift patterns are:
- 8am to 8pm
- 8am to 10pm with a sleepover finishing at 8am the following day
- 8pm to 8am waking nights
Staff work on a rota system so applicants should be able to do any shift. The team will plan and agree the shifts and rota.

About this opportunity
This lady has a great sense of humour and likes to do indoor activities that include jigsaws, watching Disney movies, listening to music, dancing, colouring and she enjoys collecting magazines and postcards.
She enjoys going for walks in her local community up to 3 times a day. Staff will need to help her to connect with her community especially in her neighbourhood as well as creatively looking at other ventures and activities that may be of interest.
Applicants should have the ability to work as part of a team, ensuring there is consistency in approach.
Staff need to be able to remain calm and resilient, when situations get demanding, follow protocols and Behavioural Support Plans to help reduce anxieties, which will help her to feel safe and confident.

- Can you be creative, kind, understanding and able to develop positive relationships?
Experience of working with people with complex needs would be preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
