39 Hours Per Week, Monday 2.30am-7.30pm, Tuesday-Thursday 7.30am-5pm and Sunday 11am-7.30pm
Bishop Burton College is home to one of the UK’s leading equestrian centres, delivering excellence in teaching, learning and high-profile equine events at local, regional, national and international level. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Yard Assistant to join our dynamic team and support the daily running of our busy equestrian centre.
As a Yard Assistant, you will play a key role in the effective day-to-day operations of the yard, ensuring high standards of horse care, welfare and presentation. You will support and supervise equine students during practical sessions, contribute to the organisation and delivery of our extensive competition calendar, and assist with the training and development of College horses.
You will also work closely with coaching and commercial staff, maintaining a safe, well-organised and professional environment, and representing the College at events such as Bishop Burton Horse Trials, competitions and open days. The role may involve working across both the Bishop Burton and Riseholme campuses.
The position includes riding as part of daily duties. To ensure the wellbeing of our horses, we have a rider weight limit of 13 stone.
You will have recent, relevant experience in the equine industry and a passion for working with both horses and students. You should hold (or be willing to work towards) BHS Stage 2 Foundation Coach in Complete Horsemanship or equivalent. A good understanding of equine industry standards, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team are essential.
You will be organised, proactive, and able to work under pressure with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude. A flexible approach to working hours is required, along with a commitment to maintaining high standards of horse welfare, safety and yard presentation.
