Hockey Coach
We are looking for a suitably qualified Hockey Coach to support the development and delivery of the Hockey Programme.
Working on a casual basis for an average of 10 -12 hours per week term time only during the Christmas and Easter terms, the successful candidate will ideally have experience of coaching hockey within schools, clubs, and / or the England Hockey Player Pathway. They will also have a good level of current technical and tactical knowledge of the game. Experience of umpiring is also advantageous

JOB DESCRIPTION
Overall Purpose:
The Hockey Coach is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of an effective hockey coaching programme, working with players across the 13 – 18 age range (Shells to U6th). The Hockey Coach will potentially have responsibility for leading a girls’ team and a boys’ team, as well as assisting the development of players of all ages and standards, positioning Canford at the forefront of school hockey provision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching Canford’s teams throughout the season (across two terms)
- Help support and develop the other Hockey staff, to ensure quality delivery throughout the Canford Hockey pathway – and umpiring matches
- Planning and coaching individual and group sessions where required and ensuring diligent communication to players’ parents
- Attend specified competitions as agreed with the Director of Hockey
- Contributing to and facilitating communication of hockey news and developments internally and externally, including within Canford Sport, through the school’s media department, with parents, and within the broader hockey community
- Communicate effectively within all areas of Canford life including pastoral, academic and co-curricular
- Engaging actively in continuous personal development and the development of Canford Sport.
- Any other duties that the Director of Hockey and/or the Director of Sport sees fit, providing that such duties are appropriate to the role
Desirable Qualities:
- Successful experience of coaching hockey within schools, clubs, or the England Hockey Player Pathway
- A UKCC Level 2 Hockey Coaching Award and an umpiring qualification is desirable
- A good level of current technical and tactical knowledge of the game with a passion to develop further
- The ability to plan, implement and adapt training sessions across a range of ages and abilities
- Excellent communication, organisation and administrative skills
