Policy development programme – Quantitative Research Analyst

We are looking for candidates with extremely strong analytical skills and research qualifications, including statisticians, economists and financial analysts. This role is a 12 month Fixed term contract.

You may be a finishing post-graduate studies, or considering pivoting from a corporate role – this is an opportunity to make a real contribution to the development of Conservative Party policy.

The role focuses on:

·       Deep analysis of existing research to advance the objectives of the Party’s policy development work across policy areas; and

·       Collating, coordinating and analysing policy-related submissions from multiple channels, including identifying high value contributions to ensure these are incorporated into briefing packs for committees and senior Party members. 

A successful candidate will be highly numerate and have experience interacting with detailed and complex quantitative data sets and modelling tools.

Role responsibilities

1.      Data Analysis:

·       Research an analyse existing data and information on specific policy areas – both qualitative and quantitative.

·       Organise and categorise data submitted directly to the Party from contributors.

·       Identify patterns, trends, and emerging themes within the sources of data.

·       Perform thematic analysis and interpret findings within the context or the programme objectives.

2.      Reporting & Documentation:

·       Write clear, concise, and comprehensive reports that summarise key insights

·       Present findings in a way that is accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

·       Include relevant visuals (charts, graphs, quotes) to support findings and make reports engaging

·       Continuously improve the reporting approach by responding to feedback and revised requirements and requests

·       Actively contribute ideas to make the overall process more efficient, innovative, and scalable.

3.      Quality Assurance:

·       Ensure the integrity and consistency of data analysis through careful review and validation

·       Maintain a strong understanding of best practices in qualitative research methods and data analysis

4.      Other:

·       Assist with ad-hoc projects as required by the needs of the team and the Party.

·       Provide holiday cover for other members of the team in accordance with the holiday cover schedule.

·       Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders.

·       Keep any professional qualifications up to date. 

This role will require flexibility across the organisation, and a willingness to get involved in other roles or functions where additional support is needed at any time.

Professional experience and qualifications

·    Proven experience through either academia or academia and a corporate role, interacting with detailed and complex quantitative data sets and modelling tools.

·    Post-graduate study in a relevant course.

Skills required

·       Ability to analyse and synthesise complex data and present it in a digestible format to non-experts.

·       Extremely strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.

·       Interest in using available tools and technologies to enhance work efficiency, including tools for data coding, thematic analysis, and report writing.

·       Good ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems and opportunities in a fast-paced environment.

·       Good verbal and written communication skills.

·       Able to organise and prioritise a demanding workload personally.
