Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor to join our Global Business Solutions (GBS) team, specialising in Accounts Payable. This role will involve the day‑to‑day supervision of a small team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of purchase invoices and the effective handling of internal and external stakeholder queries.

The successful candidate will work closely with the National Finance team, Partner group, and wider GBS stakeholders to support consistent service delivery and maintain high standards of financial control.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Operations

  • Oversee the processing and posting of a high volume of purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and deadlines.
  • Monitor invoice approvals, payment runs, and exception handling across multiple jurisdictions where applicable.
  • Processing 600-800 invoices per month.
  • Invoices will be international invoices using different currencies.
  • Ensure queries relating to invoices, payments, and supplier accounts are resolved efficiently.

Supervision & Team Management

  • Manage and support a team of 1-2 team members, including trainees or junior staff.
  • Review work outputs to ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Provide coaching, on‑the‑job training, and feedback to develop team capability and confidence.
  • Allocate workloads, manage priorities, and support the team during peak periods.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective working relationships with the National Finance team, acting as a key point of contact for accounts payable matters.
  • Work closely with the Partner group, responding to queries and providing updates where required.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve escalated queries professionally and promptly.

Query Management

  • Manage a high volume of internal and external queries, ensuring clear communication, appropriate escalation, and timely resolution.
  • Maintain a customer‑focused approach while balancing operational priorities.

Process & Controls

  • Support the maintenance and improvement of accounts payable processes and controls.
  • Identify process efficiencies and raise improvement suggestions to management.
  • Ensure documentation and procedures are followed in line with firm standards.

Required Attributes

  • Proven experience managing a high volume of purchase invoices within an accounts payable or finance function.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing a small team (or acting in a senior/lead role).
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including finance teams and senior management.
  • Confidence working directly with Partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle and prioritise a high volume of internal and external queries.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear an professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable Experience & Skills

  • Experience within a professional service or practice environment.
  • Exposure to shared services, outsourced finance, or global business solutions teams.
  • Working knowledge of common accounting systems and Excel.
