The role

We are seeking a governance-focused cyber security professional at the Manager level to join a dynamic and growing Consulting department. You will work alongside experienced cyber security specialists helping clients improve cyber resilience, manage cyber risk and respond effectively to security incidents. This is an opportunity to work on a broad range of cyber security engagements with clients across different sectors.

This role is particularly suited to an individual with experience delivering cyber security governance, risk, assurance or regulatory advisory work for UK-based clients, ideally within a professional services or comparable client-facing advisory environment. Experience with clients in financial services, insurance or pensions would be advantageous. You will play an important role in helping clients align their cyber security strategies with regulatory expectations, business objectives and good practice. The successful candidate will combine technical knowledge, governance expertise and a collaborative approach to support clients in strengthening their cyber security posture and improving their preparedness for cyber incidents.

The team delivers a range of cyber security services, supporting leaders across multiple sectors to understand their cyber maturity, assess areas of weakness and develop the policies, practices and technical responses needed to manage and mitigate cyber risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate cyber security risks and technical concepts into clear, practical advice for senior client stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess and articulate cyber security risks across client environments, including technology, governance, operational resilience and third-party risk considerations.
  • Develop and review cyber security policies, procedures, response plans and supporting governance documentation to help clients strengthen cyber resilience and incident preparedness.
  • Review supplier assurance evidence and assess third-party cyber security risks, identifying control weaknesses and practical remediation actions.
  • Manage cyber security engagements, including project planning, delivery coordination, timelines, budgets, quality standards and supervision of less experienced team members.
  • Prepare high-quality client reports, presentations and recommendations that are clear, evidence-based and appropriate for senior and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and third-party specialists to support effective delivery of cyber security services where additional expertise is required.
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships, identifying opportunities to support clients further and contribute to proposal development, statements of work and pipeline activity.
  • Support the development of the team’s cyber security methodologies, templates, service offerings and wider growth priorities.
  • Contribute to marketing and market engagement activity, including thought leadership, events, campaigns and other initiatives that raise the profile of the cyber security team.

Key Skills

  • Ability to identify, assess and clearly articulate cyber security risks affecting organisations across a range of sectors and operating environments.
  • Strong awareness of current and emerging cyber threats, including their potential impact on business operations, technology environments and third-party relationships.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and well-structured client reports, proposals and presentations.
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to review evidence, challenge assumptions and maintain high standards across client deliverables.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple engagements, maintaining pace, focus and sound professional judgement.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to support colleagues, share knowledge and contribute positively to team development.
  • Able to remain focused and pragmatic when managing deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables and operate effectively with limited supervision.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with the ability to produce polished client-facing materials.

Qualifications And Understanding

  • Good understanding of key cyber security standards, principles and good practice relevant to governance, risk management and resilience.
  • Familiarity with recognised cyber security and information security frameworks, such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.
  • Relevant governance, risk or cyber security certifications are desirable, such as CISMP, CISM, CISSP or equivalent qualifications.
  • Awareness of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements affecting cyber security, such as DORA, NIS2 and UK financial regulatory expectations.
