Derby College Group is seeking to appoint a talented and inspiring Teacher of Art and Design to join our team at the Joseph Wright Centre on a fixed term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated professional to deliver outstanding teaching and learning, and to make a real impact on our students’ creative journeys.
The Opportunity
In this role, you’ll deliver innovative, dynamic, and responsive teaching that meets the diverse needs of our Art and Design students. You will play a key part in creating an engaging learning environment that supports students to develop both their technical skills and creative thinking.
You will also:
- Build and maintain strong links with industry to enrich the curriculum
- Develop collaborative projects with industry partners
- Contribute to departmental research and curriculum development
- Support students in developing the skills and knowledge required for careers in the creative industries
Through high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment, you will enable students to gain a deep and meaningful understanding of their subject and achieve their full potential.

About You
You are an engaging and organised Art & Design professional with a specialism in Graphics, capable of delivering inspiring teaching across Level 1–3. With strong interpersonal and time management skills, you confidently use MS Office and educational technologies to support learning. You hold a recognised teaching qualification and relevant degree, alongside GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English. Ideally, you bring additional experience in Photography or Animation, course coordination, and a solid understanding of FE curriculum design and quality standards.
