An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0.5FTE Teacher of Physics to join our GCSE Plus team at the Joseph Wright Centre (JWC). If you would like to visit the site and meet the team before applying, please reach out to us at hrrecruitment@derby-college.ac.uk.

The Opportunity

The role is primarily to deliver the Physics elements of our Combined Science GCSE course. However, there may be future opportunities to teach other Science qualifications also offered at the JWC such as A-level, T-level and Applied Science.

The GCSE+ curriculum is designed for students that need an additional year to gain the GCSE qualifications they need in order to access level 3 qualifications the following year. The cohort is wonderfully diverse and students have high attendance and strong achievement. A high proportion of students choose Combined Science alongside Higher Maths to access A-level or T-level Sciences and recent successes have seen students eventually progress to study Medicine.

You will deliver inspiring and effective teaching, learning and assessment to enable students to make excellent progress. A relevant degree is essential, and applicants must already have a recognised teaching level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd).

If you think you have the skills, drive and motivation to drive students to achieve their potential and positive destinations then this could be the opportunity for you.
