Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and reach their full potential? Derby College Group (DCG) are looking for a dedicated Youth Engagement Worker (x2) to provide personalised support to post-16 students, including conducting home visits to engage hard-to-reach students and strengthen family partnerships.  This role with be based at our iconic Roundhouse campus. The Opportunity

The Routes academy is a new provision for 16–18-year-olds who enrol at college with low level English and maths grades which do not meet the entry requirements for vocational level one programmes or have social, emotional challenges / barriers to learning. The intent is to improve students’ maths and English grades as well as develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours to support them into vocational study programmes. In this role, you will work closely with students, staff, and external agencies to improve attendance, well-being, and engagement. You will provide guidance, signposting, and interventions tailored to individual needs, ensuring every young person has the support they need to succeed. Conducting home visits will be an essential part of this role to support with family engagement and attendance improvement.

About you

You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with young people and motivate them to participate in activities and events. For this role you must have the minimum qualification required to work as a professional youth worker (BA Hons validated by the National Youth Agency (NYA). If you have experience working with young people, a driving license, a strong understanding of safeguarding, and the ability to build positive relationships, we’d love to hear from you!
