About the role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Rail Operations professional to join our growing team based in Brisbane. In this role, you will lead and support client facing projects which could include the technical development and delivery of Railway Operations and Operational Readiness Consulting Services in Queensland including associated strategic transport activities, through state-wide assignments and supporting other states as required.

The successful candidate will have significant railway operations knowledge and demonstrated experience leading operations and maintenance and operational readiness aspects across complex rail projects.

What you will be involved in:

  • Act as the Operations technical lead and work alongside operations and maintenance professionals on engagements/projects including accountability for relevant aspects of project delivery and meeting client expectations.
  • Develop Concept of Operational (ConOps) Plans; Network Plans, KPI regimes, train crewing, time-table reviews, operating manuals, etc. as part of our Consulting offerings.
  • Lead Operations Readiness components of bids and projects ensuring readiness deliverables are produced to a high quality.
  • Provide advisory services from a Network Operator perspective to support operational oversight including the delivery of Operational Readiness aspects, ensuring the railways operate efficiently and maximise performance capability, customer experience and capacity.
  • Provide advisory services in the development of Operational Strategies, tools, and techniques.
  • Draft and develop railway standards and procedures for client organisations.
  • Contribute to investment options analysis with regards to timetable options, validating system design requirements, and network planning.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with our UK based Operational specialists’ team.
  • Be open to work on interstate / international projects with the possibility of travel, as well as within local project offices.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Significant years of experience in rail operations across multiple areas – including implementing important change in one or more impacted areas (Train Operations, Operational Readiness, Train crewing, rail systems, Stations/Customer Services).
  • Railway experience – including knowledge of interface between train and infrastructure.
  • Experience of working within Passenger and/or Freight Train Operating Companies.
  • Experience in managing Operations processes across a program lifecycle.
  • Identify and manage operational risks ensuring the project meets the key operational performance outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of operations standards, procedures, training and competencies.
  • Proficient in building positive relationships with senior stakeholders and technical subject matter experts.
  • Strong IT proficiency – including MS Office applications and developed report writing skills.
  • Understanding of working to delivery budgets.
  • Team working.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an international market.
  • An understanding of Rail Simulation modelling.
