About the opportunities

NRC Australia is currently seeking experienced Engineers at various levels to bring their expertise in Human Factors Integration to join our growing team in Sydney.

Depending on your experience, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the Human Factors framework, either leading or providing essential support. Your focus will be on ensuring human interface risks are effectively identified, managed, and controlled. You’ll deliver expert advice and guidance, influencing requirements development and management to achieve safer, more efficient rail solutions.

 

What you will be involved in:

  • Lead or assist in establishing and maintaining the human factors framework.
  • Administer the human factors framework to ensure alignment with program objectives and standards.
  • Create and update the HFIP (Human Factors Integration Plan), HFIR (Human Factors Integration Report), and user interaction specifications in line with program timelines and quality requirements.
  • Provide human factors expertise and advice during requirements development and management.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with the approved evidence-based framework through selective sampling and auditing.
  • Support other teams by delivering specialist advice and services as required.
  • Work with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Maintain a collaborative approach with clients and key stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree-qualified Human Factors Engineer or equivalent demonstrable experience, with prior experience in human factors in the rail sector.
  • Proven track record of delivering rail projects to successful completion, on time and within budget.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong attention to detail when engaging with stakeholders from diverse disciplines and capturing their thought processes.
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (or equivalent) or actively working towards certification.
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured documentation.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills to interface confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
