Facilities Engineering Manager

Building on our continued success, we are looking for an experienced professional to join our team in Sacramento as a Engineering Manager. We offer flexibility & hybrid working.

Work as part of the integrated High-Speed Rail Systems Engineering project team, the successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Director of Rail Engineering, serves as the lead engineer for rail facilities, which includes the Operations Control Center, Maintenance of Way Facilities, Integrated Training Facility, Light Maintenance Facility (Trainsets), Heavy Maintenance Facility (Trainsets), and Trainset Certification Facility. 

The Engineering Manager (Facilities) is responsible for all work products prepared by the Facilities Engineers, including the design criteria manual (DCM) and the bidding documents for the facilities contract(s). Responsible for the management of support and interface with the Environmental, Strategic Delivery, and Engineering Groups and for the review of Contractors submittals, requests for information (RFIs) design variation requests (DVRs) and for the content of Contractors directive letters (DLs).

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for managing & providing support to the facilities engineering teams
  • Supporting and Interfacing with other Groups & stakeholders
  • Reviewing Contractors’ and Regional Teams submittals and resolving issues
  • Managing and supporting the preparation of the technical Contract Documents

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

You’ll have relevant knowledge in relation to the management of large rail facilities projects and the design and integration of their major components. Experience working with both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build Contractors, while having the ability to analyze project elements in the design, construction, testing and operation phases with respect to cost, constructability and reliability.

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • Excellent Management and Communication Skills
  • At least 10 years of experience in the design, management and construction of rail facilities projects.
