About the role:

Network Rail Consulting is currently hiring for an ETCS Operations & Maintenance Lead to join the team based in Brisbane, Queensland.

This role will be responsible for leading and directing the strategy for operational and maintenance systems and processes required to support an integrated ETCS System. It will develop a coherent plan for the System Integrator that calls out operational, maintenance, training and business change activities that are required to successfully deliver and run the new systems. As an experienced O&M Subject Matter Expert, you will support our key clients in the Rail sector selling this expertise and co-ordinating a team to deliver integrated solutions.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated leadership skills, and the confidence to apply their technical expertise in a consultancy environment.

What you will be involved in:

  • Provide SME advice on ETCS L2 system operations and maintenance for the client and the Systems Integration Program Lead.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the client to determine the Operational Readiness and Maintenance Strategy, tools and techniques.
  • Ensure the identification of necessary activities and readiness phases for the delivery of an integrated ETCS L2 system, covering operations, maintenance, training, business change and system testing.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate operational readiness as much as possible and therefore de-risk the operational readiness phase.
  • Develop readiness processes and evidence requirements to ensure the integrated System is ready for entry into service and can be successfully maintained.
  • Provide expert advice and interpret the impact of the proposed technical strategies and solutions for compliance on operations and maintenance, including impacts and requirements of the end users.
  • Lead the planning for early end user engagement and coordination of feedback for the client.
  • Provide advice based on interstate or international delivery experience for the deployments of ETCS L2 and TMS O&M systems and processes.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Railway experience – including implementing significant change in train operations, train crewing and rolling stock fitment.
  • Development of O&M strategies to support network needs.
  • Experience providing technical advice to inform business case development.
  • Prior experience in the delivery of change, compliance and/or complex projects
  • Strong background in planning for and managing O&M readiness for signalling system within development/delivery projects.
  • Knowledge of the ETCS L2 system and interfacing systems (trackside, onboard, FTN, DTRS, ATO, TMS and operational systems).
  • Attention to detail when listening to stakeholders, including the end users, and capturing their thought processes and perspectives.
  • Ability to prioritise work and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure.

Desirable:

  • Ability to integrate various data sources into a single view for upward reporting.
  • Knowledge/experience of working in the Australian rail industry.
