Arbour House School is an independent SEN school with split sites – Lower (Primary) and Upper, based in Weymouth and Dorchester for young people aged 6-18 with complex social, communication and learning needs.

We provide a bespoke, creative and stimulating curriculum with a particular focus on developing independent living skills and real-life learning. We aim to support our pupils to achieve to their full potential, contribute to their communities, gain meaningful employment or progress to further education.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide effective leadership of our Lower School (Primary) site alongside the Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher.
  • Play an active part in the development of the Lower School (Primary) leadership team and participate in the creation and delivery of objectives set through the School Development Plan.
  • Ensure the education and welfare of Lower School (Primary) pupils, having due regard to the school’s ethos, aims, objectives and policies.
  • Share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and pastoral care of all pupils throughout the school.
  • Deputise as necessary for the Headteacher/Deputy Headteacher in their absence.

Who you are:

  • Qualified and experienced Primary teacher.
  • Qualified to degree level.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Evidence of recent and relevant professional development.
  • Additional relevant qualification in the field of SEND desirable but not essential.
  • A proven track record of recent and successful teaching of children with learning disabilities and complex needs, including autism and behaviours that challenge.
  • Evidence of the ability to lead, manage, motivate and enthuse teachers and support staff within a team context.
