Management Accountant - Maternity Cover

What we need in a nutshell

We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join our Central Support Finance team on a maternity cover basis.

You’ll play an important role in keeping our finances accurate, timely and insightful, helping us understand how the business is performing and supporting informed decision-making across Away Resorts.

From preparing monthly management accounts and completing month-end journals to maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and investigating financial variances, you’ll be right at the heart of our Finance team. We’re looking for someone who loves working with numbers, has a keen eye for detail and enjoys finding ways to make processes better.

If you’re proactive, organised and ready to make a difference in a collaborative team, we’d love to hear from you!

Who are we?

We’re an ambitious bunch and have huge aspirations. We’ve spent the last 17 years shaking up the Great British Holiday and have no intention of stopping yet! With 27 locations across the UK, we are passionate about providing excellent experiences to our guests and colleagues. Whether that be on the Cornish Coastline or up in Scotland, there’s something for everyone.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare accurate month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, payroll-related entries and other routine accounting adjustments.
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring results are complete, accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain strong balance sheet discipline by completing regular reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving outstanding items.
  • Provide clear commentary and analysis to explain movements in the profit and loss account and balance sheet.
  • Ensure financial entries are posted accurately to the correct cost centres and nominal codes.
  • Work with our FP&A team and operational stakeholders to investigate variances, understand cost drivers and provide useful financial insight.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis when required.
  • Help improve finance processes, controls and reporting routines, identifying opportunities to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.
  • Build positive working relationships across Finance and the wider business, responding to queries in a helpful, professional and timely manner.
  • Support colleagues across the business with financial guidance, helping them make informed decisions that contribute to excellent experiences for our guests and Owners.
  • Ensure financial processes and controls are followed consistently, escalating any concerns, risks or unusual transactions promptly.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative Finance team that aims to get things right first time, every time.

Skills, experience, and qualities you'll need

  • You’ll be working towards a recognised accountancy qualification, such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent, with demonstrable progress through your studies.
  • A finance, accounting or business-related degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working within a Finance team, with exposure to month-end close, journals, reconciliations and management reporting.
  • Experience preparing or supporting management accounts and explaining financial variances to finance or non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to work accurately with financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting matters clearly and confidently to different audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and deliver accurate, high-quality work to tight deadlines.
  • A curious and proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement and strengthening financial controls.
  • Experience in a consumer-facing, hospitality, leisure or multi-site business would be beneficial.
  • Experience using finance systems, reporting tools or large data sets to support analysis and decision-making would also be an advantage.
