Week 1 Monday 16.15-21.45, Tuesday 14.15-21.45, Wednesday 16.15-2145.

Week 2 Wednesday 06.45-13.30, Saturday 07.45-14.00, Sunday 07.45-14.00.

Week 3 Tuesday 06.45-12.15, Wednesday – 16.45-21.45, Thursday 16.30-21.45

We are looking to recruit a proactive and enthusiastic Sports Operative to join our busy Commercial Sports team.

In this varied and hands-on role, you will support the day-to-day operation of our sporting facilities, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard and provide a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and external users.

You will play a key role in supporting sporting activities, coordinating bookings, and delivering excellent customer service across both Bishop Burton and Riseholme campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and dismantle sports facilities and equipment
  • Ensure all facilities are clean, safe, and maintained to a high standard
  • Support match days, events, and sports camps
  • Deliver gym inductions and basic fitness programmes
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all users
  • Manage bookings, memberships, and enquiries using internal systems
  • Carry out routine checks and report maintenance issues
  • Assist with the promotion and development of sports facilities and memberships

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about sport and enjoys working in a customer-focused environment.

You will have:

  • Experience within a sport, leisure, or customer service setting
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT and administrative skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • A First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification (Level 3 desirable)
  • Experience working in a sports facility or similar environment
