Outsourcing Assistant Manager

Overview
To manage a portfolio of clients and deliver high-quality outsourced finance and accounting services, including compliance, management reporting, and advisory support. The role involves supervising junior staff, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.


Key Responsibilities
• Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, ensuring all reporting and compliance deadlines are met.
• Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
• Review and oversee preparation of bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT returns, statutory financial statements and CT returns.
• Assist with compliance and communications in relation to employment taxes, such as PAYE, P11D and PSA.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP (FRS 101, FRS 102, FRS 105) and other relevant standards.
• Ensure all client deadlines are met with high standards of accuracy and compliance.
• Delegate tasks effectively and ensure efficient resource utilisation.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with clients to streamline accounting processes, implement best practices, and identify opportunities for efficiency and growth for clients and the department.
• Support the development of the outsourcing offering, including cloud-based solutions and digital transformation initiatives.
• Monitor WIP, billing, and workflow to ensure profitability and timely delivery.
Requirements
• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA or equivalent) with 1–2 years post-qualified experience.
• Trained at a Top 20 UK accounting firm.
• An understanding of IFRS and an excellent understanding of UK GAAP, CT compliance and VAT compliance.
• Strong background in UK accountancy practice, ideally in outsourcing or business services.
• Proven experience managing relationships and compliance for a portfolio of clients requiring outsourcing support, whilst also supervising staff.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using accounting software such as CaseWare, IRIS, Xero, Sage, NetSuite and QuickBooks.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with clients.
• Commercial awareness and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.


About the Role
As an Outsourcing Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This position involves managing day-to-day operations of outsourced finance functions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing insightful management information to support client decision-making.
