About the Role

NRC supports multiple clients in and around the Northeast Corridor from our strategic locations in Washington DC, New York City, and Boston, as well as West Coast clients from our offices in California. We are seeking a Rail & Transit Data Analyst for our New York office in Midtown Manhattan.

You will provide support to our Clients, Project Managers, and project teams to deliver for Network Rail Consulting. This role requires candidates to be excellent communicators, self-driven, and with a desire to develop knowledge and skills rapidly.

Network Rail Consulting’s current projects in the U.S. include, but are not limited to:

  • Operational analysis and modeling;
  • Works planning and change management;
  • Asset management;
  • Track geometry and trainborne systems; and
  • Operational readiness for capital projects.
  • In addition to self-learning, specialist training and technical development will be provided, including the possibility for UK-based training.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing technical support to Project Managers and teams;
  • Undertaking detailed analysis and managing data or information provided by clients or project teams;
  • Assisting with writing and proofreading of reports, papers, and presentations;
  • Managing internal and external meetings including action logging and taking minutes; and
  • Assisting the Client, Project Manager or project team as required.

About You

Applicant should be a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in a relevant field.

You will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills; great attention to detail; and communication skills, in addition to the following:

  • Experience with data exploration, cleansing or QA/QC, analysis, drawing conclusions, and clear presentation of recommendations
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python/R (preferred) or VBA;
  • Experience with one or more analysis and visualization tools such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, Tableau or PowerBI;
  • Experience with GIS concepts and software packages, e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, linear reference system experience is highly desirable, but not essential;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerBI;
  • Knowledge of US Transit and Rail, transportation, or related industries is essential;
  • Knowledge of project management; and
  • Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and establish relationships at all levels.
