About the role:

Network Rail Consulting is currently hiring for an ETCS Systems Integration Lead to join the team based in Brisbane, Queensland.

This role will be the lead for the planning and delivery of key Systems Integration technical deliverables to support planning for ETCS deployments across the network, owning the strategy for technical integration of ETCS systems, including Trackside, Onboard, DTRS, FTN, TMS, ATO and adjacent ETCS and conventional signalling deployments.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated leadership skills, and the confidence to apply their technical expertise in a consultancy environment.

What you will be involved in:

  • Deliver key Systems Integration and Technical Strategy documentation which meets the client and business requirements.
  • Support the Systems Integration Program Lead and the Integration & Strategy team to provide advice to clients on the successful integration of complex systems.
  • Engineering sign off on System Integration and Technical advice, and overall accountable for ensuring there is an integrated technical and operational solution for the client.
  • Ensuring the appropriate quality and assurance process has been followed for the sign off of key System Integrator documentation.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts in the Systems Integration & Technical Services team to provide technical expertise and trouble-shoot technical issues.
  • Provide advice based on interstate or international delivery experience for the deployments of ETCS L2 and TMS.
  • Lead the planning for early supplier engagement and coordination of feedback for the client.
  • Provide advice on ETCS L2 signalling principles and best practise application rules
  • Clearly communicate Systems Integration strategy and guidance to the client and engineering teams.
  • Maintain records on decision making to ensure the history and rationale behind the advised strategy is retained.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Significant experience of integrating complex railway systems.
  • Development of signalling technical strategies to support network needs.
  • Experience providing technical advice to inform business case development.
  • Strong background in planning for and managing Signalling delivery projects, preferably ETCS Level 2, ATO and Traffic Management systems or equivalent systems.
  • Knowledge of the ETCS L2 system/sub-systems and interfacing systems (trackside, onboard, FTN, DTRS, ATO, TMS and operational systems).
  • Track record of bringing complex railway projects to successful completion on time and within budget.
  • Relevant professional and academic qualifications.

Desirable:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Experience during the development and entry into service phase of new rail infrastructure.
  • Knowledge/experience of working in the Australian rail industry.
  • Chartered Engineer.
