About the opportunity:

Network Rail Consulting is currently hiring for an ETCS Systems Integration Program Lead to join the team based in Brisbane, Queensland.

This role will be responsible for leading and directing the delivery of Systems Integration & Technical Services, including strategic advice for the integration of ETCS Systems into existing railway networks.  As an experienced Program Lead, you will support our key clients in the rail sector by providing this expertise, and co-ordinating a team to deliver integrated solutions and strategies.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated leadership skills, and the confidence to apply their technical expertise in a consultancy environment.

What you will be involved in:

  • Lead and direct the Integration & Strategy team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key project milestones and performance objectives.
  • Lead the Integration & Strategy team to provide advice to clients on the successful integration of complex systems.
  • Overall accountability for the integration strategy for all new digital railway systems with our clients existing networks, providing advice for all stages of deployment, including development, delivery, and handover to operational services.
  • Ensuring the appropriate quality and assurance process has been followed for the sign off of key System Integrator documentation.
  • Lead the delivery of international best practice into the System Integrator from other Australian, European and worldwide deployments of ETCS L2 and TMS.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the planning for implementation of all rail systems to support the introduction of ETCS Level 2 and the relevant sub-systems (Trackside, Onboard, FTN, DTRS, ATO, TMS).
  • Provide overview of the strategy and guidance to all the engineering teams working with the Integration & Strategy team to ensure the history of decision making and strategy is retained.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Significant experience of directing complex organisations.
  • Development of signalling works delivery strategies to support network needs.
  • Experience providing technical advice to inform business case development.
  • Strong background in planning for and managing Signalling delivery projects, preferably ETCS Level 2, ATO and Traffic Management systems or equivalent systems.
  • Knowledge of the ETCS L2 system/sub-systems and interfacing systems (trackside, onboard, FTN, DTRS, ATO, TMS and operational systems)
  • Track record of bringing complex railway projects to successful completion on time and within budget.
  • Relevant professional and academic qualifications.

Desirable:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Experience during the strategy definition, development, and entry into service phase of new rail infrastructure.
  • Knowledge/experience of working in the Australian rail industry.
  • Chartered Engineer.
